Fences built to
outlast the land.

JLW Contracting builds strong, straight fences for homes, acreage, farms and equine properties. That covers Colorbond and treated pine boundary fences, stock fencing, yards, timber post and rail and feature entrances. We clear the line and prepare the ground first, so every job is done right from the start.

What we do

Fencing and groundwork, one crew

Most fencing jobs start with the ground. Because we do both, there's no waiting on a second contractor and no finger-pointing if the line isn't right.

Post & rail fencing

Hardwood and cypress post and rail, in face-fixed or mortised styles, for homesteads, frontages, arenas and paddocks. It's built to look good and last decades.

Rural & stock fencing

Barbed and plain wire, ringlock, hingejoint and electric fencing for cattle, sheep and goats. Boundary, internal and laneway fences, strained tight and built to hold.

Gates & entrances

Farm gates, timber entrance gates and feature entrances that set the tone for the property. We hang them true, so they swing and latch properly for years.

Equine fencing & yards

Horse-safe fencing, round yards, cattle yards and loading areas, with visible, rounded and sight-friendly designs to keep stock safe.

Earthworks & clearing

Fence line clearing, levelling, driveways, house and shed pads, drainage, trenching and dams. Machine work done properly before the posts go in.

Repairs & replacement

Storm, flood and fire damage, sagging lines and old fences replaced. We pull out and dispose of the old fence and rebuild it straight.

Residential fencing

Home fencing, done properly

Not just paddocks. We build boundary, privacy and feature fences for homes, townhouses and new builds, measured, quoted and installed by the same crew.

Groundwork

Retaining & site prep

Sloping blocks often need ground work before a fence can go up. We handle levelling, plinths and low retaining walls below the height that needs engineering design (generally under 1 metre).

  • Low retaining walls (non-engineered)
  • Fence line levelling
  • Plinths and stepped panels
  • Old fence removal and disposal

Post & rail

Timber that's built to last

Post and rail is the classic rural fence: strong, safe for horses and stock, and it adds real value to a property. We work with Australian hardwoods and cypress, and can finish fences raw, oiled, stained or painted to suit your property.

  • Timbers: Ironbark and other Australian hardwoods, and cypress
  • Styles: 2, 3 and 4 rail, face-fixed or mortised
  • Infill options: mesh or wire infill for dogs and small stock
  • Finishes: raw, oil, stain or paint

FAQ

Common questions

Can't see your question? Get in touch.

Colorbond or treated pine: which should I choose?

Colorbond costs more up front but needs almost no maintenance and won't rot or warp. Treated pine is more affordable and has a natural look, but it needs staining or painting over time. We'll talk through both when we quote.

How much does fencing cost per metre?

It depends on the fence type, timber, ground conditions and access. Plain wire stock fencing costs much less than hardwood post and rail. We give fixed, itemised quotes after seeing the site.

Do you remove the old fence?

Yes. We can pull out old fencing, posts and wire, and dispose of them as part of the job.

Can you clear the fence line first?

Yes. We clear and level fence lines with our own machinery, so you don't need a separate earthworks contractor.

Who pays for a boundary fence?

In Queensland, neighbours usually share the cost of a dividing fence. Check the Queensland Government's dividing fences guidance, and we can quote for both parties.

Do you do insurance work?

Yes. We can quote storm, flood and fire damaged fences for insurance claims, with photos and itemised pricing.
